Code of Conduct for Participants

Effective from February 2008

The Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. See also the club’s Safeguarding Policy.

The Club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the Club should, at all times, show respect for each other, be encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the Club with the designated club officer.

As a member of the Leicestershire Orienteering Club you are expected to abide by the following Code of Conduct for participants:

  • All members should compete within the rules of the club and of British Orienteering and respect officials and their decisions.
  • All members should respect fellow competitors.
  • Members should pay any fees for competition or training events promptly.
  • Members should keep to agreed timings for club activities or inform the organisers if they are going to be late.
  • Members should wear suitable kit for training and events.
  • Junior members should ensure they provide a Consent and Medical form for all relevant training sessions and events.
  • Junior members are not allowed to smoke, or to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind, at training sessions or when representing the Club in competitions.
  • All members must treat the environment in which they compete or train with care and respect.
