Insurance: From 1st Jan 2026, if you’re not currently a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk

Personal Information: When entering events your personal details (name, age, gender, club) will appear in the results section on this website. It may also be used to contact you regarding this event including to trace missing runners and hired SI cards.

Notes

Entry: via The Start Kite. Entries will open 3 weeks before or earlier.
Student/unwaged discount code:
Enter 3 days before the event to guarantee a map. Pay the entry fee to The Start Kite (account details will be displayed on screen when you confirm your entry).
Late entries and Entry on the Day: This is possible via The Start Kite depending on map availability. No cash entry on the day.

Night Event: A whistle and torch will be required. Advisably a headtorch and a spare torch. NB Not suitable for beginners.

Parking:On a roadside, at the south side of Ashburton Road beyond Hugglescote Community Primary School.

Start and Finish: at the Donington-le-Heath Manor House car park entrance near the junction of Manor Road and the Co-op supermarket.
Starts are from 6pm, try to start early to give time to finish before 8pm please.

Terrain: Predominantly woodland, also with rough open and parkland. There are some road crossings and a high disused railway embankment.

Map: Brand new area for orienteering.

Long 4.5 80 1:7500 For fast experienced orienteers. Very hard, involves some steep slopes.
Medium 3.2 501:5000 For slower experienced orienteers. Less hard, involves some steep slopes.
Short 2.0 30 1:5000 For beginners. Easier.

Control Collection: Volunteers willing to collect in a few controls each after the courses close would be much appreciated (rumour that there may be free drinks for collectors!).

Safety: A risk assessment has been carried out by the Organiser and all reasonable care has been taken to ensure the safety of competitors. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
Please note:- Take care crossing busy roads.
- Be aware of and courteous to pedestrians and dogs.

The 2025/2026 LEI Winter League consists of 8 events taking place from November to February. They include night and daytime events, urban, parks and woodland events. See Winter League for the full list of fixtures and points system.
