Night Event: A whistle and torch will be required. Advisably a headtorch and a spare torch. NB Not suitable for beginners.

Parking: Roadside parking along Loughborough Road, see Google map for precise location. What3Words: tall.happen.blend.
Start: A short uphill track of about 200m from the above location.

Terrain: Complex woodland with rock features and path network. There are:
NO ROAD CROSSINGS. The event takes place wholly in the southern half of the map.
Many unmapped rocks. If you are looking for a rock on the map, you can generally (but not always) expect it to be larger than 1m tall.
Likely to be some very wet areas in the lower (northern) part of the event area. Expect to get wet feet (or more!) and bring dry and warm changes for afterwards.
Many indistinct, and some distinct, unmapped paths. Keep close map contact!
Brambles throughout the area, but they are fairly passable in winter.
The Long course passes an area which is permanently OUT OF BOUNDS and is shown as such on the map. You must not enter this area.

Courses close at 8.00pm. You MUST report to download when you leave the forest, so we do not initiate a search (in the dark, in January).

Control Collection: Volunteers willing to collect in a few controls each after the courses close would be much appreciated.

Safety: A risk assessment has been carried out by the Organiser and all reasonable care has been taken to ensure the safety of competitors. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
Particular care is needed on the approach to the start and return from the finish, the paths has many small rocks.
Many rocks of all shapes and sizes which are likely to be wet and slippery.
Several large crags in the area. NO COURSES use crags as control features, and they are mostly avoided for sensible route choices.
The safety bearing is SOUTH, which will eventually bring you to the path that follows the map boundary, beyond which are fields over a wall. Follow that path west and you will find the start, or finish, or route out of the woods.
FIRST AID: will be at the DOWNLOAD point (roadside parking).
