Late entries and Entry on the Day: This is possible via The Start Kite depending on map availability. No cash entry on the day.

Car Parking: There is space for all the cars that will come if we car share and park carefully. Please follow the marshall’s instructions.

Night Event: A whistle and torch will be required, advisably a headtorch and a spare torch. NB Not suitable for beginners.

Terrain: Hillside parkland with wooded and open areas.
Being a small area, the control density will be high, so check your control codes carefully.
The nature of the terrain means most legs could be TD2-3 but with plenty of route choice. Therefore courses are expected to be fast, even in the dark.
One gate has recently been removed and there is a chain across the gap where the gate used to be. It is a valid route choice for two or more of the legs on the Long course.

Start and Finish: both close to the Car Park.

Start times: An army contingent will be arriving from approx. 6.15pm. So if non-army competitors can arrive and start earlier, please do so.

Provisional Courses

CourseLengthClimbControls
Long5.0km 245m21For fast experienced orienteers
Medium2.5km 135m11For slower experienced orienteers
Short1.7km 90m8for less experienced orienteers, TD3

Control Collection: Volunteers willing to collect in a few controls each after the courses close would be much appreciated.

Safety: A risk assessment has been carried out by the Organiser and all reasonable care has been taken to ensure the safety of competitors. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
There are cattle in the area, which are usually docile, but please leave clear distance to avoid disturbing them.
There is at least one small tree stump in the middle of a path, which is a significant trip hazard in the dark.
