Hamilton: A brand new area for orienteering. Residential area with complex network of roads, tree-lined footpaths, grass areas, and intermittent drainage ditches and ponds.
Meeting: North West corner of Tesco’s car park. 200m walk to the start.
Courses: Optimal course distances (straight line distances) Long 6.0km(4.2Km), Medium 4.2Km(2.8Km) and Short 2.5km(1.7Km).
Map: 1:7,500 Open Orienteering PsuedO map (i.e. like an urban map)
Entry: Use the on-line entry form below. Closing midnight the day before. If the Entry app if not shown below, the event/activity is not yet accepting entries.
MapRun: Start, Finish and all control sites are identified by a GPS signal with no physical control kite or plaque. Do not tap ‘Go to Start’ until you are ready to go. Download App.
Kit: Head torch as some areas not covered by street lights. A smart phone with the MapRun6 or MapRunG App.
NO PHONE? If you do not have a phone with GPS enabled, you can do the courses using a map only, but you need to make your own judgment if you are at the control site.
Safety: A torch and mobile phone are mandatory. Leave your phone number with the organiser and put the organiser’s number on your phone. Wear clothing and shoes suitable for the forecasted weather conditions. Beware of vehicles, cyclists and dog walkers.
Covid-19 Measures: Do not attend if you have Covid symptoms, have been close to someone who has or have been asked to isolate;
