Event Details

MapRun: The control sites have no visible controls. Instead the Start, Finish and all control sites are identified by a GPS signal on your phone. The signal can be received within a few metres of the feature marked on your map. Advice and assistance will be available for anyone new to MapRun.

App: All participants need a smart phone or watch with the MapRun or MapRunG App. Download App.

Register: via the form at the bottom of this page to ensure a map. Pay cash at the event.

Terrain: urban streets and parks.
Out of Bounds: Please be aware of all the Out of Bounds map symbols. See list on the ‘Know before you go!’ notice.
It is very important for the reputation of urban orienteering that you do not enter private property and you are courteous to all the local public at all times.

Start: Will be close to registration. Do not tap Go to Start until you are ready to go.

Courses Close: : 8.00pm. Sunset 7.03pm. So a torch will be helpful if you are a late starter.

Courses: Competitors can run the Score course and either or both of the Long and Medium courses.
Long: 4.0km optimum
Medium: 2.7km optimum
10min Score course: 20 points for each control and 10 points penalty for each minute or part minute over 10mins.

Safety: A risk assessment has been carried out by the Organiser and all reasonable care has been taken to ensure the safety of competitors. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event. See Event Safety
