Start and Finish: close to car park.

Terrain: Open hillside with rock features and mixed of woodland with variable runnability.
- There is significant thinning and other changes to vegetation throughout the entire area. Few controls use vegetation features as sites, and no legs rely on vegetation information.
- Some parts have enthusiastic growth of new nettles and bracken; courses avoid the worst of it. .
- On the open hill there are LARGE IMPASSABLE cliffs. There are NO controls on crags or cliffs. Stay away from them. They are not taped.

Out of Bounds: There is an out of bounds field in the middle of the map - this MUST NOT BE ENTERED. All courses go around it.
There are some deep ponds - these are fenced off and must not be entered.
Walls: Do not cross walls - there's no leg on any course where that gives you an advantage. Use crossing points.
Some stone walls now have parallel barbed wire fences to protect them. These barbed wire fences are NOT mapped - be careful. (This does not affect the short course).

Map Symbols: The control description symbol for rootstock (circle with a diagonal cross inside) is shown on the map as a hollow brown triangle.
- On the hill, single trees are sometimes shown as white 'runnable'. Some pairs or triples of single trees are sometimes shown as a single tree. Some areas are shown as semi-open.
- The circle size for single trees is typically related to canopy area rather than trunk width or height. .
