{"id":5422,"date":"2016-04-17T10:08:52","date_gmt":"2016-04-17T10:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leioc.org.uk\/?page_id=5422"},"modified":"2022-07-07T15:48:35","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T15:48:35","slug":"accident-guide","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.leioc.org.uk\/wordpress\/members\/accident-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"Accident Guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>What to do when there is an accident or incident<\/h5>\n<p><em>(This guide is effective from February 2008)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stay calm but act swiftly;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look around you, observe the situation, is there danger of further injuries?<\/li>\n<li>Listen to what the injured person is saying.<\/li>\n<li>Alert the first aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries.<\/li>\n<li>In the event of an injury requiring specialist treatment, call the emergency services.<\/li>\n<li>Deal with others in the area, if you are responsible for others ensure that they are adequately supervised.<\/li>\n<li>Do not move someone with major injuries. Wait for the emergency medics.<\/li>\n<li>Contact the injured person\u2019s parent\/carer\/partner\/travelling companions.<\/li>\n<li>Complete an incident\/accident report form and send this immediately to British Orienteering.
