Rough Park by name and
Rough Park by nature' was a comment I heard many times on the
day. It may be rough but it is a challenging area both for the
planner and the competitor. It offers a various types of woodland
all requiring careful navigation and route choice. The planning
challenges included avoiding the many shooting parties over Christmas,
seeing the depressions turn into lakes the weekend before the event and
paths turn into streams. However a dry week preceding the event
and gorgeous spring weather on the day saved the situation. I
hope you all enjoyed yourself despite the rhododendrons! Many
thanks to Graham the Controller and Dave the Organiser who helped me
through this event.
