A Happy New Year to you all. It was a delight to have so many runners for our annual hangover cure. It was a double delight to have representation from so many clubs, ten in total. In fact when I first turned up at the pub, our first competitor had arrived from Singapore, although he did assure me that he didn't travel solely for the event.

The map was extended to the south and west to allow an extended run for the longest course. Although, while putting out the controls, I did ponder how many would be fast enough to take the southern route to Heather Wood at controls 14 & 15 (nearly all of you). I'm sorry I couldn't find more interesting controls there. There is considerable planting underway around Heather and in a few years most of the fields that were used are likely to be wooded.

The scoring system was well liked, and seemed to give genuine decisions throughout the courses. However many of you seemed to agree with one finisher who said that she knew that some controls would take more than the allotted five minutes, but the run was about getting shot of excess mince pies and not about the timing!

I was hoping to have a new timing system on trial for the event, but the equipment is still locked in the Christmas post; it shall be used at one of the summer league events instead. The cramped half-minute starts meant that I was often overwhelmed at the finish, so some details may not have been correctly recorded (think I got the times about right). Where I wasn't sure, I've put a question mark in the results. Let me know if you can confirm or correct any error and the results will be amended.
