Saturday 27 October 2018 Leicester 5 Parks Challenge (Knighton)

Notes: Try Orienteering: If you like maps, being outdoors and want to keep fit, this could be for you.

Who: Everyone is welcome – all ages. Come on your own or with family/friends.

What: Take the challenge: Walk, jog or run, how many checkpoints can you find in the park?

Help: Learn to navigate with the orienteering maps. Friendly coaching to help you to get started.
Coaching advice for all and including exercises adapted for more experienced club orienteers.

Kit: All specialist equipment will be provided.

Intro Easiest and shortest Families and newcomers
Yellow 1.5Km Slightly less easy and more distance between checkpoints. Families and newcomers
Orange 2.3Km More navigational decision and choices of routes More confident families and juniors; Adult newcomers
Score 30mins Good navigation skills and route choices Improvers and experienced. Experienced must visit is set order

Junior Awards: Juniors qualify for the British Schools Orienteering Explorers Awards. Each control visited counts and there are awards for 25, 50 and 100 points.

Introduction to Orienteering: If you have not orienteered before, take a look at our page for newcomers.

Suitable for Beginners?: Beginners are welcome. Please arrive early and preferably let the organiser know in advance so that you can be sure to get advice from an experienced orienteer.
Large Groups?: If you intend to come to our event as part of a large group, eg Youth group, Scouts, Cubs, Athletic or running club, it would be helpful to let the Organiser know in advance. This ensures we can have enough maps available for you and avoid disappointment.
